Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the tryouts for Dash Softball this Saturday. Despite a lot of out reach over the last few months we have not been able to attract enough players to field a full team at any level. The U12 level had the most traction, but only a total of nine players registered, and we need at least twelve players to field a team. I apologize to everyone that was looking forward to tryouts; believe me, I wanted this to work more than anyone. Starting this club has been a dream of mine for years but we will keep trying.
Here is the plan moving forward. This winter we will hold some skills clinics to help improve the skills of softball players in the area and to get our name out there. We also have learned a lot about reaching out to the parochial schools in the area and feel that we will be better equipped to reach potential players and their families in the future. Reaching out to scores of schools and geographic areas is very challenging. We will also hold some skills camps in the summer of 2020. Lastly, we will once again try to field teams next year. We plan to have tryouts in August 2020 and form teams to play in the spring/summer of 2021.
If you would like to help us reach out to potential players and families please let us know. Also, if you have ideas for outreach or team formation we are all ears, so please feel free to send suggestions.
If you have questions or concerns about any of this information let us know via email. We are also more than willing to help players try to find alternate teams if they are still interested in playing for a club team in 2020.
Dash Softball President
We are excited to launch Dash Sports Softball. Tryouts for our inaugural teams will be in August of 2020. We will practice and train over the winter of 2020-2021 and start playing games and tournaments in the spring and summer of 2021.
For the first season we are hoping to field teams at the U8, U10, and U12 levels. However, we are open to fielding teams at the U14 and U16 levels if the numbers allow.
U8 and U10 teams will practice one night per week, play league games one night per week, and play in two or three tournaments.
U12 teams will practice one night per week, play league games one night per week, and play in three to five tournaments.
