Welcome to Dash Basketball 2023!!!

2023-2024 DASH Basketball Information Sheet & Program Overview

  • The DASH Basketball Program embodies the values and mission of DSHA athletics founded by the Sisters of Divine Savior as call to live lives that will make a difference.  With an emphasis on player growth and development the DASH Basketball Program teaches basketball fundamentals and instills life skills including work ethic, fair play, good sportsmanship, morals, and leadership.

  • DASH Basketball is a complement to, not a substitute for, the Parochial grade school basketball teams which should remain the 1st priority for girls who have that option available. DASH Basketball is not an AAU or traveling team program.  Games will be played at local area high schools and other venues in SE Wisconsin.

  • Who: 5th – 8th Grade Girls (in 2023 – 2024) split by age level. Every girl who registers will be placed on a team pending total number of registrants.

  • When: Fall/Winter of 2023-2024 Season. Registration is open through Friday September 15th.  There will be informational meeting Monday, September 11th at 7pm @DSHA

  • What: Team Practices and League Games in One on One Winter League and possible Tournaments against Other High School Junior Basketball Programs.

  • Cost Practice and  League: $225 per player + uniform fee if needed. Uniforms must be purchased but can be reused for multiple seasons if they still fit your daughter. This fee will only cover league and practice. Teams may choose to enter into more tournaments as coordinated by the coaches and team manager of each team. This will be at an additional cost to those players who optionally elect to participate in each additional tournament.

  • Team Assignments: Ultimately, the goal is to have all players face the level of competition for which each player is best suited at their grade level. The league allows to request placement into a division that we believe provide the best developmental opportunities for each team.

  • Practices: Practices begin the week of October 1st. More details will come out about the practice schedule at a later time, but most will take place on Monday until fall sports wrap up in early November. Once the fall sports are over, we may need to shift practice times and days as the Winter schedule has not been completed as of yet. All practices throughout the season will be held at DSHA.  If the DSHA gym is unavailable for a regularly scheduled practice, the program may find an alternate time or practice venue. Generally, all teams in the same grade will practice together at the same time with some drills and instruction happening as an entire group. This will allow the girls the opportunity to develop friendships with all the girls at the grade-level and give all the girls access to consistency in the instruction from the coaching staff.

  • Financial Assistance: We want to ensure that the program is not cost prohibitive for any family. Please contact us directly if you would like to talk about financial assistance on an individualized basis.

  • The financial goal of the program is merely to cover our expenses. This program does not fund any activities outside of DASH Basketball. The fees collected are used to pay for equipment, tournament/league entry fees, referee costs, and program costs. All the head coaches in the program are selected by the DSHA coaching staff with most of them providing their time as volunteers. Some non-parent coaches may receive a modest compensation for their time and effort coaching in our program.

Winter DASH 2023-24

Hello DASH families and prospective DASH families!  I first of all wanted to introduce myself for those who do not know but I am Coach Sean Garczynski,  I recently took over as the head Varsity Basketball Coach at DSHA. I have had a wonderful opportunity coaching High School basketball for over 18 years, the last 7 as an assistant at DSHA!!  Moving forward however I will also have a large part in helping run a develop DASH along with Emily Brown, whom everyone has come to know over the last few years,  Thanks so much Emily for all your dedication to DASH!!

We had a great summer season with our 5 DASH teams.  The girls met new friends, worked on their skills and won some games!  We would love to expand our program this year to add a winter league for all girls in grades 5-8th.  We will be looking for players at every level as well as a few coaches.

Plans for the winter DASH program will include one practice per week (we know most girls will also be playing for their middle school team and practicing a few times a week for that) and 7 weeks of league games at Pius High School (2 games per night).  We would also like to add some skills sessions into the mix if we can get coaches and gym time.

We will be holding an informational session Sept. 11th  at 7pm with more details and time to ask questions.  Bring your girls for an hour of skills and games in the gym while parents meet in the DSHA commons.  The registration link for Winter DASH is below.  Please reach out with any questions.

If you know of anyone interested in Winter Basketball please feel free to forward this information or direct them to me or Emily Brown

Thanks.
